Tops copy ? Sourced VIA Ali ( China ) for a princely sum of $40 banana's .
What to complain about ? hmmmmmmmmm . Nothing much really !
Factory edge : I have had this sitting here for a while because of the bad weather ( Rain ) . Winter is slowing things down quite a bit ! Right , factory edge !
250 slices for a fail .
80 grit ( Wet stone grinder ) re grind : Reground the knife for a 350/400 fail . 350 soft fail 400 hard fail if you like !
80 grit regrind : First the factory bevel was 22 degrees , the first regrind was also 22 degrees . This time I tightened the bevel on the grinder and this resulted in a 19.7 degree bevel . Or rounded to 20 degrees . I have to say that @ 20 degrees the knife was much better on the rope slice ( easier ) . Now comparing 22 degrees to 20 degrees I got a 200 slice gain for a 600 slice fail . ( 22 = 400 / 20 = 600 ) That's a 100 slice increase for every degree taken off the bevel .
600 : 600 slices at 20 degrees is a very fair result . I can live with 20 degrees , but if a were going to chase numbers I would tighten the bevel even more . Of course this would simply make the edge more fragile and prone to chipping / rolling / fracturing . The blade looks to handle 20 degrees well , cutting / chopping wood and I feel no need to chase more on the rope .
Bushcrafty : It scrapes wood and ferro with the spine and in my books , makes the knife bushcrafty . ( End of video ) If mem serves , two slices of ferro got a small fire going .
