I just picked up a Tri EDC and the UI is bit funky to me...Hope someone can explain it to me.

When I use it, it seems like it sometimes has memory mode and sometimes it doesn't. It feels kind of random as to when it decides to change mode or stay on the same one.

Can someone give me an explanation on exactly how the UI works on the new Mac lights?
 
Just a bit more additional info, I've been testing this by turning on the light to any mode, turn it off for 5 seconds, and as of right now, it seems to randomly choose to stay on the same mode or jump to the next one
 
Leave it on for 1,2,3 seconds. Im betting it has to stay on for 1-2 seconds for the memory to kick in.

I need to see this soon!

If it's the older tri-edc using the lux-rc board then it will not have any memory. HML and always resets to H when off for 3 seconds I believe.

If it's the newer tri-edc then it should be the standard 7135 boards with LMH with memory. Switching should be pretty fast. Now I do believe there's a member here that mods these newer boards to have what he calls hybrid memory (?). LMH with memory but it resets back to L if you change mode from last memory stored.
 
Thanks everyone for the tips, yeah it's the newer 7135 board with memory. I figured it out, the memory needs at least 3 seconds or so of being on to stay in that mode. Stupid me :ohgeez:

Fluocero28(spelling?) is the guy that does the mods, and I will be sending him my light for moon light mode and possibly no memory :)

And yes Mike we have to meet some time! I want to check out your newly acquired lights!

The switch is a forward clicky so you just slighly press the switch to change modes (repeatedly) and then once your in the level you want you fully click the switch.

the way to go. I figured this out after a few tries.
 
keep it on for 2 seconds on the mode you want then turn it off and when you turn it on again later it will start at the mode you had

Hi guys, I'm pretty new in thecustom flashights wordl, and definately new in CPF.
I am considering buying a tri-EDC as I love the design, the 3-led concept, and the things I read about the build quality, I'm just concerned over the UI and especially the low setting.
I read ehre and there that many members have their lights modded by Flucero, and as soon as I have my 3 posts rule waived, I'll try to contact him to understand how it works, in the meanwhile, which modifications would you suggest me to ask Flucero on a tri-EDC, apart from a firelfy mode (3 lumen? 2 lumen?)?

Try using it stock standard and see if you like it. Then decide if you need a mod for the firefly.
Mac's standard LMH is pretty nicely spaced out for various situations.

One of the mods Flucero did to mine was shortening up the time required to trigger memory. The stock time is way too long for me. Firefly mode is a must, IMO. I would have them come that way stock if I were Mac.
 
The switching mechanism is based on the "on" time. If you don't leave the light "on" long enough next time you switch it on (could be a week after), you'll get the next level.

It's exactly backwards from McGizmo 3S light engine, which only considers the "off" time. In that UI, the light will always come on at the same level as previously, unless it has been "off" during less than maybe 0.5s.
