I remember reading on an old thread it is possible to repair a broken clicky switch with tinfoil, bypassing the switch and turning it into a twisty. Sooooo where exactly do I put the tinfoil?
You have close the path between the ground tab and the spring (positive). If its a cheap clicky then it would just have two strips and thin gauge metal sticking out of the sides.
I had a clicky fail on me. A bit of water got inside the boot and I didn't check it. A week later, the click mechanism was a clunk mechanism. I cut a strip of metal from a penny and wedged it between the spring and the tightening ring (Which is electrically common to the tailcap). This, along with anodized threads, gave a twisty UI in place of a broken (Failed open) clicky switch.
