I busted my butt getting this done because I know everyone is hot on these now. I combined them all in one large revew (warning: big pics!) since they are all pretty much identical except for size, batteries, and switching modes in 2 models.

Enjoy!

Wow, that is a very comprehensive review.

Combining all of them in one review makes comparing the different models very easy.

Once again excellent work!

The Brookstone store near me has the 3c and the 2 lithium Luxeon in their private label brand. At $40 and $50 respectively. The luxeon either had the batteries worn out or it was over resistored as it was dim.

I got the TT 2L at the local cop shop for $32. They have the 2L, 3AA, 3C and 2D. Plus the 3AA luxeon. Went in for a Ultra Stinger bulb and walked out with that plus a light. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I agree that the 3C is good both in size and balance. I also like the 2L as well.

Brookstone also has a monster bloated smooth finish mag style light. If you pick it up press the button marked light. The button with the dog's picture causes it to bark loudly and the other button is not the off button but the whoop whoop alarm. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Nice reviews, I just ordered the L1 and L2 and am confused at the lumens vs lux readings in your older review vs newer. Older reviews list lumens, newer reviews lux, how do they compare?

With my being a newbie, I find your reviews a great asset in my choosing lights. I'm grateful for the time and effort involved in such a comprehensive review. Thank you.

Thanks, Quickbeam. Your review, first, convinces me that I need to get one of these for a certain friend. Second, it shows me which one is ideal. This is a big help. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

How about comparing the L2 against Scorpion? That would be very interesting! Beamshots just do not tell everything...

Of course many would be interested in comparisons like L2 against E2 or A2 from Surefire and L1 against E1. (but not me /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif)

Streamlight TwinTask 2L xenon vs. Xenergy xenon vs. Scorpion

From my beamshots comparison page here: http://thelightsite.cruxial.com/reviews/beamshots/frameset.html

If I had the E1 and A2, I'd be happy to compare them! But Surefire hasn't responded to my requests for evaluation samples... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Here's an interesting point, though. At beam center the TT-L2 is only as bright as the Surefire E1 - so it has the same throw as an E1 (but much better battery life.) I don't have a E1 for direct comparison, so I can't tell anything about overall light output.

I did see those beamshots... but the information like what you said about TT-L2 beam center and E1 is very helpfull. Actually it seems now that TT-L2 will not really... actually wait a minute! I use my Scorpion quite a lot so that it is now focused as close as it could be... could you compare TT-L2 and Scorpion focused to approximate same width as TT-L2?

Harri

Ps. it's now so bright here in Finland all the time that I do not really need any lights (in more northern parts the sun doesn't even set at all...). So I have some time to decide what light to buy next - and what to get for everybody for X-mas. TT-L1 or L2 might just be great for that.

I just got my grey/titanium finished Streamlight Twin Task 1L today from the fine folks at Brightguy.com. Indeed, it's a very nice and very well built torch. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif I love the idea of having an LED and incandescent flashlight all in one!

In my opinion, it's just the right size for everyday carry. Not too small, not too big and easily carried in a nylon sheath or belt pack. I suppose I could remove the lanyard, attach a few small split rings through the aperture and add a Berkeley Point Mini-Clip to carry the light bezel down on my belt loop.

The LED output on the 1L is decently bright and very usable. Not as bright as my Inova X5, however, it's a bit brighter than my Golight Epoch 4 (which uses 4 LED's). No worries though, since the Xenon bulb is there when I need a burst of very bright light. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I really like this small flashlight and I'm definately going to get the 2L and 2D next. Considering the price for these lights, the SL Twin Task series has to be one of the best bang for the buck deals in torchdom.

I consider the 2D to be a disappointment, and I recommend the 3C instead. Look for my reviews of those lights on this forum.

love my 1L and 2L--both very usable light-for size/price in LED or Xenon mode ... the wide beam is a nice counterpoint to the tight beams of my G2 and Peli M6 ...

th Lux 3AA is very bright, but definitely has a greenish cast to it (trying to decide if it annoys me more than a purplish cast)

Great review Quickbeam. I just returned from Hilton Head today (took all the Task-Lights except the 2D). I burned enough batteries to make me afraid I modified the sea turtles nesting pattern, but I found them tremendously useful in all respects.

The 3AA Lux has to be my favorite with it's long run time, and long throw (for an LED). They all have their individual positive points. The common one is quality; no buggered threads, not a sharp spot on ANY of them.

The 1L (as Quickbeam said) is so CUTE, while very small, and useful. The 2L slightly larger, brighter, and longer run time.

I guess my favorite configuration will surprise you; I love the 3AA Lux and Twin-Task. Not pocket lights, but long run time, and simply stick them through your belt. They just feel good in the hand.

Buy them all for the price of one S#%^F*&*.
