Two 18650's or one twice?

Quick question, bought CL1H V4 3SD R2 with optional SM pill and an extension tube, will i gain run time running two at once in tube or one until drop off then replace? Very new to this. Still waiting for my extra 18650's so not had a chance to do my empirical tests.

Howdy electric sheep and welcome to CPF,
With that setup you have tons of options, and yes, when using the 3SM pill and the extension tube you will gain twice the runtime using two 18650 batteries as opposed to using one 18650 battery with the 3SD pill.

Just be sure you have the pills clearly labeled and that you are clear as to which one does what. You do NOT want to run 2x18650 with the 3SD pill!

If size is not a factor, you will have the most options running the 3SM pill. With that you can run 2xCR123 or 2xRCR123...... or when you add the extension tube you can run 4xCR123 or 2x18650.

Thank You, not sure how the pills are set up except their Voltage ratings being different. I know it will fry the SD pill with extension tube. Thanks again. Anyone know approx Lumen i should be getting with the R2 SD pill on 186500?

I think one twice will give longer runtime.
From the runtime graphs I've seen so far, a single protected 18650 never seems to cut off and they near empty, unlike protected 16340's.

Seems like the protection circuit in protected 18650 don't really do anything.
Any idea why this is so btw?
