Twofish lockblock: velcro straps too long

I find the velcro straps on my twofish lockblock too long: using a "big" 1AA flashlight like the Akoray K-106, the extra strap comes in the way when I want to put the lockblock on my handlebar. Using a thin 1AA light, the "grippy" part of the velcro strap only covers partially the soft part. Same issue with the handlebar attachment strap.
Simply cutting the strap would not make it. I need to shorten both the "grippy" part and the soft part.
The nicest way to do so would be to cut them in the middle, and either sew them back or better weld them like they originally are.
Does anybody know how to weld the velcro straps (melt the nylon with a lighter on both sides, and paste them by applying pressure?)?

consider Yourself a winner that it does not work,
and get any other holder, one that can be adjusted sideways.
Without that it is useless, imho

Don't have any first hand knowledge of the Two Fish mount but you can buy velcro strips for next to nothing that you can cut to any length you want and attach. It has self adhesive backing designed for use with fabrics really but you can thread it through any attachment slot and stick it back on itself leaving a double working surface... I'm sure you can visualise that better than I can word it.

Or there are plenty of DIY torch mount options involving plumbing pipes, hose clips and zip ties that work really well if you fancy trying them out.

I've had good success cutting my straps for use with smaller lights. The strap pieces should not be fixed to the block pieces. Any chance you can shift the straps to expose more of the 'loop' section so only cutting the 'hook' section is needed?

Heat welding velcro is pretty tricky without specialized equipment. I would cut, overlap, and sew if you have to resize.

As an alternative I now prefer over the lock block velcro is to still use the block (the rubber part) and a thick heavy rubber band (one of those bracelets worn to support a cause work perfect) looped/stretched over handle bars and each end of light. That has been very secure for me for hundreds of miles, but YMMV depending on diameter of bars and light.

I don't like the velcro because it catches on fabric, especially my wool gloves - also over time it became less 'sticky' (probably due to wool fibers clogging it, ha ha)
