UFO LED tent lite?

I wouldn't... Some of those LEDs may stop working before the batteries even run out.. I think it would be better to just get a single 3w emitter without a lens or reflector and mount it to the top of the tent...

I have one, it isn't built very well. It works but I wouldn't trust it to survive being packed in with the tent and other such gear. Rather blue-ish tint to the cheap LEDs too.

FYI
Probably better to post a question like this in a different section (LED flashlights will work, or the lantern section of the general lighting will do too)... for future reference the LED section is mostly technical discussions about just the emitters and not the whole light. :)

I've got one of those too. Picked it up a few years ago. I think I got it at Target on sale for around $8 at the time. It does a decent job for the money, as it has a pretty nice floody "beam". I have put quite a few hours on it without any problems.

To keep the switch from getting accidentally pressed into the "on" position while in storage (and it happens everytime), I cut a small piece of plastic off of the plastic blister packaging, and slip that in between the batteries and last + contact. Just a quick little trick to save your batteries. When I get the light out to use it, I remove the plastic shim and leave it floating around loose inside of the light. Can't lose it that way. :D

I still have my nice little LED lanterns we all use too, but this light is nice because since it stays in the tent it is always there. I like the flat, round shape of it as it packs nicely into the end of my tent's stuff sack.
