Re: ULTRA G\'s ARE BACK!!!!!!!

I'm not so sure that's a 'RESTOCKED' as 'the bitter dregs'.

That is as I see it, it's the last of 'em. "Get 'em quick, before they're all gone"......

Re: ULTRA G\'s ARE BACK!!!!!!!

Doug, are you suggesting these would be sub-par infinities?

Re: ULTRA G\'s ARE BACK!!!!!!!

I bought 2 of them a couple months ago, and one was significantly dimmer than the other. I gave it away. Revalent? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif

and also the peak solutions lights?

Re: ULTRA G\'s ARE BACK!!!!!!!

I never did see a "out of stock" flag there, and i check every couple of days. BTW, did anyone else get a dimmer light? I want 1-2 more, but don't want to get ones worse then i bought there before. VDG

Re: ULTRA G\'s ARE BACK!!!!!!!

CPFman, the Ultra-G's beam is about the same as the Arc AAA in brightness and color. It has a wider spill, which I like. The electronics are possibly a bit less efficient, but since it uses a larger battery (AA instead of AAA), it still runs much longer.

The Peak Matterhorns run their LED's at lower current than the Arc and Ultra do. That means the 1-led Matterhorn is noticably dimmer than the Arc. This is deliberate and reflects a more conservative design approach; Peak runs the led within the manufacturer specifications while Arc and CMG overdrive the leds. The 3-led Peak is somewhat brighter than the Arc AAA. Both Peaks have even narrower spill beam than the Arc. Some people like the resulting somewhat longer throw, but I think the narrower spill is a longer shortcoming and one doesn't buy a keychain light for long throw.

Nonetheless, the Peaks are about the closest you can get to an Arc right now, without resorting to the collector market. Also, the Peak "snow" leds should have much whiter color than the Ultra or the non-Luxeon Arcs ever had.

Good reliable summary from paulr.

This comparison might help -

Re: ULTRA G\'s ARE BACK!!!!!!!

I did always suspect that the Ultra had wider spill since it can use a larger reflector.
