Ultrafire® CREE C2 Disassembly

I just succeeded in damaging my new Ultrafire® CREE C2 light.

I am installing a new 2.5 Watt Cree UV in it currently.

The head assembly is different from some others I have modified.

Here is a picture of the head assembly that may save a little damage:

The hard black plastic ring must come out evenly from the top.

I got it off center and it pulled the lens off the Cree.

Did you cut those slots on each side or does it come like that? What did you use to remove the black plastic ring?

I cut the slots to get the black plastic insert out.

You could drill a couple of 1/16" holes between the metal-backed PC board and use some right-angle picks to lift the black insert straight up.
