Ultrafire 500 lumens flashlight.pics added update

Re: Ultrafire 500 lumens flashlight.

Thanks so far guys, I should have been more specifi. It is a xenon 500 it costs 64USD and it is on ebay.Comes with charger+ 2x18650 batteries.

Re: Ultrafire 500 lumens flashlight.

I recommend buying the bare light, and getting the 18650 cells from AW, better quality cells with nicer protection circuits... the ultrafire charger AW sells has some slight mods to it that make it better than the version you'll get elsewhere.

Re: Ultrafire 500 lumens flashlight.

I thought the WF-139 AW sells was the same as the dealextreme and lighthound ones, save for the spacers. What's the difference? Faster charging time?

2 blobs of solder on the positive contacts to allow the flat topped (no-button) protected
cells to be charged.

Re: Ultrafire 500 lumens flashlight.

I could probably do that blob of solder myself. Just curious, but would charging with a magnet between the + and that top spring would be ok?

Re: Ultrafire 500 lumens flashlight.

A magnet won't fit with the 18650s - the charger is just the right size for the cells :(

Re: Ultrafire 500 lumens flashlight.

My WF-139 from DealExtreme charges flat topped 18650 and 17670 without any problems. There are some bumps on the positive contact to contact the tops of these cells.

Re: Ultrafire 500 lumens flashlight.

I am charging 18650 flat topped cells in WF-139 with small magnets, witch AW ships together with cells.

I didn't say that they wouldn't work without the solder blobs - just that AW's chargers had them :p

May just be my long cells (DX Guard) and fat magnets (ones supplied with Orbs) then - once the magnets didn't fit I didn't actually try the cells before adding solder blobs myself -

I'll keep quiet from now on (on this one anyway)

Well I went ahead and got one..first impression's looks and feels very well made..I put 2 18650 batteries in and fired it up Hm..500 lumen's could that be lamp lumen's..I would estimate 200 lumen's out the front..that said it is blindingly bright..the hot spot looks a little oval but not annoyingly so.Ultrafire say its hard anodized I am no expert but it looks like it..it is a matt finish not shinny.it is heavy 364grms but that is not a minus,if you had to use the strike bezel the weight would help.to sum up if you want a cheap 40.00USD flashlight and want blinding light occasionally for self

defence its a thumbs up from me.

..I would estimate 200 lumen's out the front..

I think this light's output is significantly more than 200 - my only light with higher output is ROP HO.
I 'measure' (home made light box) over 400 with 2 x unprotected 18650s fresh off the charger.
flashlightreviews also estimates output at 400 lumens, so either you have a 'dud' or 400 lumens isn't as 'bright' as you thought ;)

I must admit, I thought that too when I got mine, and was slightly underwhelmed, until I measured the output, and realized that 400 does not appear 4 x as 'bright' as 100.

Robm I stand corrected on lumen's out,200 was a poor estimate.it does seem to light up the neighbourhood at night no problem.

TITAN1833,
Thanks. Removed spacer, added 3x123, and there was light! Quite a lot of light actually for ~$32.
