Hello, I'm new here.

I have ordered UltraFire WF-502B Cree R2-WC 5-Mode Memory 250-Lumen LED Flashlight with Clip (1*18650/2*CR123A) (sku.16179)
and TrustFire Protected 16340 3.6V 880mAh Lithium Batteries (2-Pack Grey) (sku.19627).

Will it work? Will those batteries fit the 502B?

Thanks

Also just found this info, quote:

"Due to the high cost of powering flashlights with CR123a batteries, the battery industry has developed a new class of batteries known variously as R123, R123a, RCR123, RCR123a, 16340, etc. batteries. Though these batteries are about the same size as the common CR123a batteries, most of the rechargeable batteries produce 4.2 volts of output when fully charged, so they will instantly overpower and destroy flashlights and other devices that are designed for CR123a batteries."

Hi and welcome

It will work the max voltage for the light is 8.4v and the batteries added together will be 8.4v. But it is pushing it.

If the batteries are over charged say 8.5v for both then the driver will fail.
It does not say 2 x CR123A rechargeable Ii-on battery

I would advise against it.

I have this light

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.26497
it does say CR123A rechargeable Ii-on battery

i have put batteries in at 4.3v and it still worked.

Why do you want this light?

It should work as the picture shows LIR 123 3.6v rechargeable batteries.

I don't know, it will be my first light.. is there something wrong with it?

Ok, so it should work with rechargeable batteries (i will make sure they are <8.4V before i put them in).
But will it work with protected rechargeable batteries? They are slightly longer than unprotected. Will they fit the light physically?
Thanks

There is nothing wrong with this light. The batteries should fit.
If it doesn't, people on the dx site would have posted any problems over battery length.

Read the reviews and posts.

why don't you buy the light i bought. it is a very bright light and small.

The R2 led has more throw
The Q5 has more spill

I will cancel my order and buy the one you have, thanks for the tip ;)
Or is there something better (brighter) in this price range?

Silenic

I bought the light from

http://www.bestofferbuy.com/ultrafi...en-memory-led-flashlight-1cr123a-p-28649.html

It was advertied as a 3mode but they sent me a five mode

Hi - Med - low - fast strobe - sos

the sos says "so so so"

I just had to clean the threads with white spirit, it was not smooth. There were no electrical problems. It is very bright for a small light, run time on high is about 30min on protected batteries (650 mAh), with 880 mAh it should be longer depending on the ture capacity. unprotected it was the full hour but after 35 min it got dim. It got warm but not too hot.

Yes, it will work. This is very good flashlight, great value for that money, certainly better then Ultrafire MCU-C7. You can buy 28 mm AR coated lens from KD and make it even better.

:duh2: now i don't know what to do, are you sure the 502B is safe to use with Protected 16340? Is the 8.4v a problem or not?

DX review said:
Cons: -Threads a little dirty, had to clean & oil.
-2x protected cells (sku. 8683) Damaged my module by over-tightening. :(
-"SOS" (SOSOSO) and strobe mostly useless.

Other Thoughts: Can make 2x protected CR123A cells fit by removing the first PVC spacer from around the spring in the tail cap. This will make it easier for the switch to pop out while the tail cap is removed, but when batteries are in it feels solid. Might want to try this before forcing the tail-cap on tight if your cells are a tight fit.

What is the 28 mm AR lens for? better throw?

what charger do you have?

Does have to be rcr123 rechargeable batteries?
Can you do with 18650 rechargeable batteries?

123 x2 would be slightly brighter.
18650 would have longer run time.

AR means anti-reflective coating. That practically means about 5-10% more OTF (out the front) lumens.

This AR lens is ideally suited for WF-502B:

I use the same in my WF-502D, which is basically the longer version of WF-502B intended for 2x18650 cells.

Hi Guys, i'm new here. Recently i just order this torch.

http://www.ebay.com.sg/itm/New-7W-4...lashlights&hash=item4ab2613501#ht_5081wt_1018

As this is the first time i buy this type of torch. When it arrived, torch does not look the same as the pic more over on the torch states Ultrafire WF-502B. Then i quite confuse why the seller states 1x AA/1x 14500. After a search in Youtube, then know this model uses 2x CR123. So bought 2x Energizer CR123 and pop in. It works great. But question now is is it normal for the torch to feel warm just few minutes of use? Thanks.

yeah it's gonna be warm, but if it's HOT then you should turn the thing off. LEDs generate some heat when you're dealing with the high-output types, just the nature of the technology i guess
