I have a Nitecore D10, SP R2 version. If I understand correctly, to activate the digital lock-out feature, you press and hold the tailcap button while the light is off. It's then supposed to give a short flash. However, when I press and hold the button with the light off, it cycles through the three power settings over and over. Low, mid, high.

Am I doing something wrong? Thanks.

While it is off, you press it once and keep it pressed until it blinks.

I think what you're doing is pressing once and then releasing and then pressing it again, correct? if so, don't do that.

On the older models you just untwist it half a turn to put the light into momentary mode. That seems a more reliable way of preventing accidental activation and should also work with the new model. Quicker than fiddling around with button presses too.

Get a cotton bud, drop a little alcohol (not the stuff you drink) on it and clean the end of the piston and the brass button and ring inside the head.

This works for my D20 and EX10 when they play up.

Thanks Turner02 and Jash. I'm not pressing and releasing. No matter what I do, it just cycles through the levels. I'll try your alcohol suggestion...

Make sure the head is tight to lock it out. Tighten head first and hold the button down and wait for the flash. Mine just cycles if the head is loose.

First of all, in order to put the light in lockout, the body and head have to be tightened. I know your light is loose, because you stated that when you press and hold the button down it cycles through the modes. That's exactly what is supposed to happen when the head and body are loosened. In the loosened state, a light press will turn on the light. However, if you press all the way down, it will cycle through the 3 levels. That's so you can pick your momentary mrightness "on-the-fly".

The light has to be tightened in order to enter lockout. I know your light wasn't tightened because you said that the light cycled through the levels when you pressed down and held it. When the body and head are tightened, the light functions much like a "reverse clicky", where the light doesn't actually turn on until you release the button. So here, do this....

1. Make sure the battery is fresh
2. unscrew the light, then screw it all the way down
3. The light will be on now, so click once to turn off
4. click and hold for about 1 second, and you'll see the lockout blink. If not, do steps 2,3 and 4 again.

To get out of lockout, triple click fast, light will come on and stay on.

3. The light will be on now, so click once to turn off

jslappa, thank you. That's what I was doing wrong. I thought off meant untwisting the body. I wasn't single-clicking to turn off the light. Your instructions worked perfectly.

Mahalo for your help.
