Well shoot, didn't come out too bad for a first time mod.

I had the opportunity to buy a real old Streamlight SL-15 light, and it came with a really old lamp assembly that's the same as SL is currently using. The bulb in this reflector, though, fell out. This left me with just a little Dremel grinding to remove the rest of the old glue/sealant.

I then connected the W/A bulb thru the hole, and eye-balled the alignment, which wasn't perfect (probably due to the reflector's diameter versus the filament length).

I used some JB Weld like epoxy/putty to fill in the hole where the lamp would go. I then re-aligned the bulb, and connected it to the battery stick (mistake using a full power battery stick).

When I powered-up the bulb, the heat generated set the putty almost instantly. I had just a few second to check alignment, and I got it correct, with just a slight alignment shift, giving me a slightly imperfect beam.

It's still functional, and VERY VERY bright. I'm going to use it on-duty Monday Night (in a SL-20X). So far, it seems durable, and the epoxy putty is rated to 600 degrees (F).

Hopefully, I'll have some pics on my Yahoo site...

Dano:

You did use the 01160, didn't you? I haven't done mine yet, but I'm delighted and unsurprised with your results.

Nope, the SL15 is the exact same lreflector as the Sl-20/35...

Yep. I used a W/A 01116 bulb...

any problems with the epoxy outgassing and fogging up after being run awhile?
