Look, sorry to do this to you all, but I have been away- Actually, I haven't been reading much about the Arc LS because there is so much info being thrown around and nothing is concrete...basically could someone give me a quick and easy up to date paragraph on how the LS is going? Is it being sold? i.e. Firsts which are actully working properly. (I am not saying that the others aren't, but you probably get what I mean) Is the tailswitch being used or can you still get an up to date LS with a standard 123 pack? What is really happening? INFO please. Thank you

By the way. I saw a total eclpise in South Australia the other day! Boy, is that an amazing light show! We were in the desert looking over a dry salt lake. First we had the eclipse, then a half eclipsed sunset! Gee whiz! I say no more!

If you buy from a dealer (you'll have to ask them) you will get an LS1. That is, an Arc LS with low dome luxeon star emitter driven at constant current (400mA). Some dealers have this in the new, thinner, one piece water resistant body with a lexan protective lens and a standard 123 size twist on battery compartment. This LS1 with the new body is called the LS1 rev2.

If you buy from a dealer with slightly older stock you may get the same "guts" listed above but the original LS body style instead of the new rev2 body style.

If you buy from Arc, they are changing over to using the new high dome luxeon star LED. It is more efficient & brighter with a tighter hotspot. The Arc LS that uses this new high dome emitter (constant current driven to 400mA) is called the LS2. The LS2 will come with a 123 TSP (tail switch pack) and have the newer body style listed above. Non-TSP's can be purchased seperately. I would emagine the LS2 will replace the LS1.

Take a look at this thread for pictures of both versions and a version chart that shows you the difference between Arc LS versions.
