Did a mod for another member recently and thought others might find the info useful. The multi-level VB-16 has a smooth reflector that doesn't seem to be very effective with the seoul. played around with the combo and sanded some off the bottom of the reflector, but never seemed great. The reflector is almost the same size as the mcr17xr. So I decided to cree it.
There is already a dimple in the heatsink for a lux slug, so i dremeled a cree size rectangle the same depth. AA epoxyed it on and wired it up. Put a GITD o-ring around the end of the reflector to center it in place. the retaining ring will screw on just like stock to center it as well. The mcr17xr may need a tiny bit sanded off the front so the head will screw all the way on.
The results are impressive, and i really like the beam of the xr reflectors.
Ugly but fully functional
