USB universal charger?

anybody has experience with USB universal charger?

i need it for my GPS, Ipod, etc. but wondering if they work well or will the current be too high for my application

Yup !!! Some 5 days ago i disassembled something similar ( had also a charger for 1.2V AA or AAA batteries ) and my short verdict is: don't use them, EVER!!!! They have no insulation from the mains, they use very crappy electronic etc......
Then again, it is not the same thing, but to damn close.

I think you would be better off with one that you can buy from a normal store incase it screws up. Then you can deal with the store that is local instead of having to hastle with a Hong Kong mail order store. You can get them at about any store that sells electronics and they are fairly inexpensive. I know i've had a belkin brand one for years that has never caused me a problem. I have about 8 of them total that i've picked up over the years. None of them have been a problem.

Get one of the better quality versions and they're great. Not all devices are compatible tho. My old motorola phone wouldn't charge on it and neither would my sony ericsson phone from work. My Sansa PMP, HTC phones, imagetank and gps receiver have no problems with it.
