not so much a formal review but a link to beamshot pics i took with my new Canon A80(no flash for beamshot pics-daylight outside with blinds shut in room)

All lights have fresh batteries except for the Valubright lantern which has probably got 1.5-2 hrs of runtime on the battery with a 4.8v krypton bulb previously. so basically if i had a fresh 6 volt lantern battery it very well might be on par with the Blaster Jr. in throw/lux, although it's still not far off. titles of pics tell which lights are which and such.

please excuse some of the pics being blury, still getting the hang of my digi-cam /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif colors and details are pretty accurate. im mainly wanting to show off how close to perfect the beam of the Valubright Everled w/sputtered reflector is! i have yet to come by a prettier beam.

bump....

so far it seems kinda not worth all the trouble(taking pictures and all) for only 43 views of this post /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

4x4, here ya go!

I'm impressed with:
a) your photography; mine sux
b) the amount of light and hue of the EverValueLightLed. Is it truly as impressive as the shots make it look like? It seems quite the powerful light for a 1W!

thnx phaser! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

yes, the combination of the Valubright lantern($5-battery included) + the everled($40) and the sputtered reflector(free /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif-out of old-style valubright lantern) does make for a very nice light! the hotspot is not as big as a blaster III or Jr. but it is very close in brightness/throw and that's with a pretty used battery. the beam is absolutely amazing in quality too.

thnx for the compliment on the picture-taking..... i wouldn't call it "photography" /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

just went back into webshots.com and looked through my pics and i must say that my camera did a very good job of picking up the details such as the patternized beam artifacts in the Craftsmans beams as well as those in the beam of the SF E1e. the colors are pretty darn accurate too!

okay i'll quit tootin' my horn now(or my camera's horn) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

count me among those who looked, but didn't comment. Nice pics, thanks for putting them up. The brightness of all the lights seems similar although the cost certainly isn't!

yeah that's what thing that my pics might be off in, probably because of the angle i took the pics at, it's hard to determine the difference in the hotspot brightness although they are pretty close anyways.
