versatile edc light wanted

so i already posted a thread with no big results so i will be more specific and reduce my requirements. my dream light that i dont think exists would be:

1. durable
2. 150-300 lumens
3. able to run on 1Xcr123a/1Xrcr123a/AA/14500/18650 (i would use spacers/dummy cells for anything smaller than the 18650
4. less than 115mm lenght
5. throw is more important that flood ie xr-e or xp-e led
6. price under 200 bucks

so i have re-evaluated my requirements i want a small edc thrower theres are my requirements from most important to least.

1. able to use rcr123A/cr123a/AA/14500
2. durability
3. throw
4. 150+ lumens
5. less than 100mm
6. multiple modes

i am willing to do some Legoing right now i looking at the dereelight c2h, the older jetbeam rrt-0, shiningbeam i-mini/c-mini, swm m10a. i looked at peak but something about compressible material just doesn't yell durability to me. im kind of limited on emitters because i really am looking for throw so i think that my best choices would be either a xr-e or xp-g. this will be used for everyday carry in my pocket/ end of the world scavenging AA and cr123. on a side note i dont mind buying two lights i can lego together. what companies let you interchange heads, bodies, and tails between AA and 123's

thanks for any responses. it seem that the more i learn here the more i realize i have a lot more to learn. two weeks ago these words were not in my vocabulary: 18650, 17650, 14500, 16340, rcr123a, xm-l, xp-g xp-e xr-e xp-g2, pill, host, cree, cpf, edc, haIII, tailstand, etc :sick:

I got the Zebralight SC80 for exactly the reasons you list here.
I love this thing!
It is much smaller than it looks in the pics and is exactly the same size as my Rt-01 but needs no external parts to allow battery scavenging so the converter is tough to lose when you need it the most.
It also feels like it is machined from an ingot of aluminum which is what they claim it is made of.

wow i must have missed it i thought the zebralight sc80 couldnt run on regular alkaline AA only 14500 but i was wrong. how is the throw on it? i dont like the side switch but i guess you cant have everything

I have no idea what the Lux reading is and I have no way to tell you how it throws really.
Lets just say I am satisfied with it and I have a lot of lights,some this size and many more pricey too.

I have 2 main needs for an EDC light. I use one to work with inside mainly and in Attics,Crawl Spaces and Drop Ceilings and it is great for that although on high it is way too bright.

I also carry one when camping and out on the woods.
I have not used mine yet camping but I do live across the street from a park and I am happy with how it throws there but I imagine my neighbors may not be?

A Foursevens Quark XP-G2 with extra body would fit the bill.

The Vocabulary is not a way to get more people to look at your post here as opposed to random searches you'd normally see in CL. It'll just upset the searches when folks are looking for what they need.

You can always go with them budget lights that has an aspheric lens on it. Most of them are using an XR-E that I think produces 9000 lux or so. Can't get much throw out of a small package.

How far would you like the light to throw?

The most throw from something small might be a 1x CR123 P60 compatible light with a XP-E drop-in and a smooth reflector, or an aspherical P60 drop-in. As for exact models, I'm not too sure.
It could be a bit wide for pocket carry though.

Throw and small size don't go well together, you'll need a wider reflector for a narrower beam.

ok so i made some decisions. my criteria was a little too broad. i want a AA/14500 less than 100mm with a lot of throw (for its size). i would be using primarily 14500 and AA in a pinch so i dont want a light that goes into direct drive on 14500's. i stumbled upon the lumapower trust model 1 that seems pretty good but some reviews say its floody while others say it throws well. i also saw the dereelight c2h but avaliability and run time are not good. i want to light something up from 100-170 yds away.

100 yards is hard for a small light. If you don't mind barely lighting the target up at 100 yards, then a lot of lights will throw 100 yards, but if you want to light it up well, then you'll need 10k lux at 1m or more, and that is fairly rare in small lights.

When running rechargeables I don't find runtimes to be a deal breaker; 20-30 minutes is plenty, especially when I'm working around the farm at night and have a spare battery or two in my pocket or the barn or shop is just a few steps away. I'm more concerned with versatility and performance, and for that, I still haven't found anything that outperforms the Dereelight C2H/Javelin combination. AA1 or AA2, CR123, RCR123, 14500, and the ability to swap heads between the bodies and run both heads on all of the battery configurations. And if you want an extreme thrower, get a high draw pill in XP-G or XP-E for the Javelin head and you can run it with 2 14500s for impressive throw. And since Dereelight is committed to upgradeable pills, the bodies will get years of use - I use the C2H or Javelin every day and have for 2 years. I do have many other lights, 47s, iTP, Sunwayman, Klarus, Surefire, Olight, DBS (2 of them), even the Maglite 3D with the Malkoff led dropin, but the C2H/Javelin is still my favorite.

Something that almost ticks off every box (besides the throw) is a Sunwayman V11r + AA Extender. It will let you go 14500, AA, 16340, CR123 with modes intact. It might even do a 100 yards out of sheer power.

But 170 yards is a lot to ask for a 1x14500. I don't think a pocket thrower series like a Nitecore EA1 can do that.
