i found this flashlight by chance on ebay germany. the original picture wasn´t very good, so i can´t rate it. but for under 10$ you can not make anything wrong. an now the beauty is in my hands. it looks like a new one:

the estimatet age is about 50 years. the lens is not so good quality, cause it is not regular. but first tests with a cree look awesome!

next steps are:
- make a battery pack with two or three 18650er parallel
- make a massive coper block with one cree q5
- a regulation
- try to optain the original switch

Nice find, indeed !

I've always liked the charm and form-factor of

those old Vest-Pocket flashlights.

Thank you for sharing.

Edited to add:

Wonder if it was ever EDC'd during its lifetime.

Bet it would sure have lots of stories to tell, eh ?

i don´t know what EDC´d means?!?

the seller means that this light was original boxed in oilpaper untill he sell this. so it would be new and haven´t any story for us.

EDC means "Every Day Carry"

That is, it is carried (by someone), Every Day,

in case they should need a flashlight.

Ahhh, but your sample was Brand-New, still in the wrapper !

In that case, the only story IT could tell was:

"Hey, let me OUTTA' HERE !"

:)

Hope you enjoy your new/old flashlight, Markus !

By the way, the body kinda' reminds me of

a Prince Albert tobacco can. (from the 1960's era)

Nice find and looks in cracking condition. Look forward to see how it turns out and what sort of beam that lens throws. My girlfriend even likes it lol

@burgess

i just found it on ther german! wiki. the seller means that it is from the second world war and that there is also a military edition - with green body.

it is a shame that the original bulp is missing and we can´t see some beemshots with this.

the copper body is ready and the cree is glued to this. i will make some beamshots with three 18650 and the cree in direct drive this evening.

Those are great old lights. My aunt had one just like it, and despite the old 'flat-pack' 4.5V zinc-carbon battery it used, I remember it being pretty useful - that lens gave it good throw, even though the bulb was very dim by today's standards. I wish I knew what happened to hers!

I like your idea for modding it - what you suggest sounds very good. Let us know how it goes.

There is one or two of these lights somewhere here, diffrent colour than yours but in perfect working order as I recall it. I really need to try to find it...

They show up on swapmeets here in Sweden from time to time, boxes of brand new (read: old but never used) lights as far as I can tell. Prices I have seen is 20 and 40 SEK, about equal to 3 and 6 US$. Since I found this forum I have been planning to get one or two more to mod, and leave the one I already have alone.

most of all is done, but my weller solder station is broken so i must use the gas iron. the solder joints look terrible!
the cree is glued with loctite thermal adhesive. the copper block is also glued into the housing. the emitter sits perfectly in the middle.
if you put them closer to the lens, you will get an bigger spot, so i tryed moving forward and back untill i get a good spot that is not to big and not to small. at a distance of 5 meters i have a spot that is 2 meters in diameter.
the top begins to start to rust. i will try to remove this and varnish the inside:

rear side with electronic and charging jack:

beamshot, distance 5 meters.

the converter takes 950ma from the fresh 3x18650er set (4,2volts). after two hours of runtime it takes 950 ma. estimatet runtime at 100% is 6 hours. the converter have also a mid and low mode. the modes work great. dx sku:7612

this little light is very bright and have a very long runtime. i love it :buddies:

looks like lights made by the Daimon company , they made many lights of that type for all the branches the german milatary , bulbs and even entire unissued lights are still available for resonable prices.
