Came across this great video on the EEVblog. This guy knows his stuff, and like many of us CPF'ers, has a high appreciation for the design of the EOS.

Check it out: http://www.eevblog.com/2010/03/10/e...inceton-tec-eos-led-headlamp-with-a-cree-xpg/

"Dave does a teardown of the Princeton Tec EOS headlamp and mods it with a new Cree XPG LED.
Throw in a quick reverse engineer of the circuit, gratuitous scope shots, torturing a thermistor, a practical demonstration of why you really do need 5 multimeters on your bench, and as usual Dave finds no problems filling up 25 minutes."

Fantastic link.

I just wish he'd spent more time on how to replace the sense resistors to increase brightness, and less time on the aesthetics & design of the Eos.

Yeah, I'm not sure why he skipped over that. Maybe he was getting short on time? Luckily we have CPF to search for answers. :)

Hey I had just watched that vid when I saw this on CPF! I was kinda hoping he'd show the actual installation of the LED

I concur. As this is one brilliant/educational gem of a video, i wish he showed the surgery. That being said, i'd give it 9.5 out of 10.
