Surge = bi-pin, WA = bi-pin.
4xAA = 6v, WA = 6v.

So are they physically compatible or am i barking up the wrong tree? I want to purchase a Magcharger but i need a cellphone and i can't support two expensive luxury items at the same time /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mecry.gif

The reflector of the Surge would need to be bored out and the pins bent a bit but it might work. I would think the heat would kill the Surge if used for more than a few minutes.

Mark,

I very much doubt that alkalines will be able to deliver the current that the 1160 wants: 3.5 amps at 5.0 volts, and much more than that at 6.0 volts! If you went to Ni-Cad or NiMH rechargeable AA's then that would give you 4x1.2 volts = 4.8 volts, so you would be driving the 1160 at spec or near to it, yielding around 300 lumens, and there are plenty of Ni-X AA's that will deliver 3-4 amps without complaint. The spacing of the pins on the 1160 is 2.25 eighths of an inch = .281 inches. I'm not sure what the Surge spacing is, but as JT said, you'd most likely need to do some fiddling to get it to fit--I don't know, I don't own a surge.

But in any event, you will need to get some Ni rechargeable batteries and a charger if you don't already have them. More $$$, alas.

I seriously doubt the Surge can take the heat of the 01160. It's just a plastic light. There were already problems with the bulb holder overheating with the bulb it already uses. Why don't you look at one of the Mag MR16 mods if you want a monster light without buying a Magcharger.

Just received my Surge. I have no way of knowing what size bulb it is, so here are some pics.
