Watch Terminology

Here’s a whacko one for ya. Quartz watches hurt. There is dull pain extending from my wrist to my fingers and up into my forearm. A few quartz watches are almost immune to this like my old FreeStyle Billet. Others like the Casio G-Shocks that sync with atomic time signals cause pain to begin with in 30 seconds. I know this may sound weird, but talk to a quality jeweler. There are quite a few folks that have problems with quartz watches. And this is only a minor reason to wear a mechanical watch. As Flying Turtle mentioned, it’s all those “gears, levers, and springs.” Not to mention the joy of taking a relatively inexpensive mechanical watch and regulating it to your particular habits within a couple of seconds a day…

Atomic watch is a misnomer, but a great marketing term. ;-) The watch/clock whatever syncs up with an atomic clock, via a radio signal, like here in the states WWVB.

They work great and are very accurate if able to receive the signal.
