I've just received a nitecore EZ AA R2. What do you think to use it with 14500? Is there a risk of damages?

Hmm... strange. Latest EZ AA is able to take in 14500.
Suggest you ask 4Sevens.

Interesting. 4sevens web page on the EZAA R2 does state nothing above 2 volts. SYGYZY did quote directly from the web page. NOT that web page are always right.

Please post your response from 4Sevens.

haha... They don't normally have the time to update their website immediately, too busy bringing us the goodies. ;)

14500 is the only cell I use for my EZAA R2. I get phenomenal results too. Use at your own risk. Do not plan to have the light on for over a minute to avoid damage.

Not sure about R2 as they may get hot quick. But I use 14500 in my EZ AA Warm and have run it for almost 45 minutes straight with no overheating.

Um, how about these runtimes posted by selfbuilt here?

Wrong model, he is refering to the new EZAA with XP-E R2.

OP didn't say XP-E... I guess I can extrapolate that the only EZ AA with an R2 is also an XP-E. Sorry, just getting back after a couple months away.

I see from the datasheets that the XP-E white is rated 700mA, while the XR-E cool white is rated 1000mA (neutral white is 700mA).

Just a bit of history - the original EZ AA (XR-E Q5) did not support Li-ion, hence that original warning to not use >2V battery sources (both in the included manual and on 4sevens' site). This light was quickly shown to not perform to specs, and was recalled from the market.

The revised EZ AA (XR-E Q5) did indeed officially support Li-ion, as described in the accompanying manual (and confirmed to me by NiteCore directly). However, I believe 4sevens did not get around to updating the website. FYI, this is the light in my revised review.

The new XP-E R2 versions are unknown to me. But I would recommend you contact NiteCore directly, since I believe the warning on the 4sevens site continues to predate the newer versions.

interesting news indeed! From what I can tell the "original" Nitecore EZ AA Warm version is a definite NO GO on 14500.

The newer version, like that beautiful blue model have an 'upgraded" LED R2? that will handle the POWER of a 14500.

I wish i would have ordered the Titanium Quark in AA/14500 :mecry:
(I'll be able to manage on my CR123 version however.:grin2:)
