I'm in the process of buying an A2 aviator and heard thing about cheap cells not firing the main beam up. What brand batteries does this?

That used to be an issue 3 years or so ago with Battery Station cells. They've moved their production since to the US, so I think the issue might be moot.

Any cell that says "made in china" on it's side *could* be a problem... not so much in that it might not work, but that if it explodes and destroys that pricey flashlight, or anything around it, you don't have anywhere to turn. Most USA based cell makers will replace anything one of their cells destroys.

Considering the cost of an A2, I wouldn't bother feeding it junk. use quality USA made CR123s, (panasonic, duracell, surefire, streamlight, batterystation, rayovac, etc).

The difference between quality cells and cheap cells is about 50 cents (Panasonic CR123A: $1.50, Titanium CR123A: $1.00) and in my opinion, a dollar for a pair is well worth it. A2s are around $200 new, right?

I just tried the most cheap batteries I have: some vague "kinetic" batteries, I don't know the costs anymore, but I bought a box of 14(!?) of them a while ago. I tried to fire it up 10 times, and 10 times it worked.

Just looked: they cost EUR 1.12 a piece. I know, it CAN be even cheaper:
for just EUR 0.79 a piece :)
