When a Xenon lamp assembly is still putting out a decent amount of light but the center spot is starting to go brown ?
 
Not sure what slang you lot use but here are a few more terms:
Knackered. Busted. Broken. Dud.

Is the inside of the bulb discoloured at all?
 
That's why I asked, The bulb was still clear . It just started to get more and more brown in tint.

I trashed it and replaced with a new white bright lamp.

Off topic, but I enjoy learning the finer aspects of international slang. I understood "duff" but never heard "knackered", however it does sound like what it means.
