What flashlight is this?

I bought this before I knew that there was such enthusiasm or community around flashlights. Obviously I didn't know what I was doing. How bad did I get fleeced? I paid, I think, $40 for this at Home Depot.

I know it is an LED Lenser because it says so on the front. But which model it is and is it any good? Clearly my searching has shown that LED Lensers are getting badly slammed here on these boards, but those seem to be perhaps referring to the (older?) "Coast" models. I noticed mine doesn't say "Coast" like in the screenshots I saw in the reviews here.

Thanks for any advice.

The torch you have looks like a LED Lenser David 15 to me. I've got the LL Tactical Focus and so far have been very happy with it and it's quite powerful, well more powerful than my Mini Mag 2xAA LED and my MX Power 1watt 1xAA Led as well, though I'd probabably use my MX Power more, dont know why but I do.

Thanks. I think that is right, it sure does look like a match. Any idea why all the screenshots (even the one you just posted) say "Coast" and mine doesn't?

Yes it is a V2. This was my first LED too! I brought mine about 2 years ago from memory, and I was impressed with it at the time.

I loved the metal forward clickly, but the output when compared with a Q5 now is very average. I also found that the AAA's seemed to drain when not in use and there was also a significant drop in brightness after the first 15 minutes of use, I suspect it was the torch as I swapped the cells out a few times and still had the drain issue. But this could have just been an issue with mine. If you spent another $20 you could get a very good LED torch but I did use my V2 for about a year at work and it was better than the incan Maglights we had on issue.

I agree the light dims quickly and then levels out for a while before becoming very weak.

Man I thought this flashlight was just so cool until I found this forum :duh2:

It's a 7736 model.... either LL7736 or TT7736 (just different packaging, same light). Not to be confused with the 7736TS, which is a completely different light.

Looks to be the older version of this light. The newer version doesn't have a hole in the front of the optic lens, and has a bigger heatsink...otherwise identical. Both are great lights in my opinion. Yes, there are other great lights for the money, but this light has a fantastically (is that a word?!) useable beam... and excellent grip. Plus I think it fits great in the hand, and the the tactical switch is perfect.

Get yourself some NiMH batteries and you'll get a much flatter output curve... alkalines don't do so well in direct-drive configurations that pull an amp of current (like this one).

Modded with an SSC P4 LED, this light is superb. I'm actually modding my friend's right now. I have two of them myself, both modded. Like I said, there's "better" lights now, but to me this one's a classic and highly useable.

:welcome: and hang on to your wallet!! There is a wealth of information here by lots of people who really know their stuff about flashlights. Remember the CPF golden rule, "When in doubt, buy both."

I agree with flashcrazy on the grip and switch, probably the best of both that I have experienced on any flashlight.

It might be a decent light when modded, but as is it is it has the problems mentioned above which is why I no longer carry it.

Hole? nope, if you take a look much closer to his second pic  (click)
its the newer version. and im afraid if the old model still exist in the market (maybe in the blackmarket)

Pros- as flashcrazy said

The V2 tac torch/V2 3AAA is excellent, only con is that the plastic lens gets scratches way too easy, I wish they had put a glass lens in front of the optics.
I once accidently left it on for at least 10hours, it was still going, weaker, but still useable light.

The throw on this thing is pretty good, it throws almost as far as my P2D Q5, mine doesnt drain the batts, maybe a bad tailcap on yours
