About Brinkmann lights?

I got a notice from my bank in the mail, telling me that I needed to use up my "scorecard" points because they were discontinuing the program. I have never bothered to even look the website up, considering such things scams...but I looked it up the other day, only to find that I had 3600 points! Not a whole lot in the scheme of things (no frequent flyer miles for me:rolleyes:) but I ended up getting one of these:

Or something very similar to it. Mine doesn't have a momentary-on feature, which is what I really like about my Fenix E20:(

But it is very lightweight and supposedly strong and waterproof. It has an orange peel reflector (what are those for, anyway?) and it seems pretty nice. The switch boot seems pretty chintzy though...hmm...don't think I can replace it, either...

The throw is pretty good, though it does seem to be more of a floodlighting tool than a spotlighter. The spot spreads rapidly once you back up past ten feet or so.

For a free flashlight, I'm not gonna complain!;)

Looks like a 1AA version of the company's Maxfire LX. When that model was rather common just a few years ago, it was easily the best bargain in tactical flashlights. I picked one up shortly after getting my SureFire C2. For $17, I didn't expect much from the LX. But was blown away by its performance. In that department, it easily kept up with my SF C2.

Brinkmann is a rather underrated company.

In other words, I didn't make a poor choice?

Awesome!:D

They have a funny marketing ad on the front of the package, where it shows the flashlight being run over by a car, lol!

I like that about Maglites, didn't think there were lights that sturdy other than Surefires and Mags!

I gave my grandpa one of the original brinkman 2aa led lights. It has a small focused beam. Still works fine!

There was a big thread on this light about a year ago. Might have died in the fire but it's worth a search.
