AAAA?

My brother was given an older LED Lenser V squared flashlight which has a 3-cell carrier which appears as it might be AAA sized, but the length and diameter are slightly less than AAA. The best guess I could tell him was AAAA cells. Are these pricey and hard to find?

I have found the AAAA to be backwards(as compared to the format of AAA cells).
The case is + and the tip is -

All alkaline cells are positive (+) case and the negative (-) end is isolated. The reverse is true of carbon zinc, or nickel based cells. Is that what you're saying?

According to this link http://ledmuseum.candlepower.us/fifth/vsquare.htm the V Square runs on AAAs.

"The LED-Lenser V Square (also known as the 7736) is a small handheld flashlight that uses a white Luxeon III LED and an acrylic optic to produce its light, feeds from three AAA cells held in a side-by-side carriage in its barrel, and comes in a black Type II anodized aluminum body."

I'm sure they're available if you search hard enough, but the only place I see them with any regularity is in electronics stores in Japan and since I was just looking out of curiosity, haven't paid any attention to the price.

I may be alone here, but I'd really like to see some very slender single AAAA lights come to market, especially considering what they've been able to accomplish using the AAA in the past few years.
