What is it that draws people to this site like moths to a flame?
We know why we come back, but I am curious about what caused people to navigate here in the first place.

A link from FlashlightReviews and his recomendation of this forum. I looked forward to Doug's [cpf Quickbeam] frequent and always thorough reviews.

Waaay back in the day (just kidding, early 2000s) I was researching the original Eternalight that I had bought probably around 98-00. I remember 2 of the white leds were a similar shade and brightness, and the other two weren't.

I think I was looking to see if the leds were swappable. Nitpicking over bins before I even knew they existed haha.

Searching for an ideal EDC after a light-less night's work due to a fire drill exercise :candle:

Unfortunately and fortunately, found more than what I bargained for. :ohgeez:

Bought a Fenix P2D at a local store, was so impressed by it when compared to my Z2 and 6P incans as well as G2L that I wanted to find a dropin module for the Surefires.

a looong power outage with no working lights. afterwards, wife said go buy something decent..googled->found cpf -> Grabbed a Fenix L2D Q5.. and the rest is history.

Years ago I picked up an Inova X5 at Frys and was quite pleased with it. Saw the Inova X0 and Inova X1 on the shelves later and wanted to find some reviews comparing the lights to try to decide if they were worth buying. Did a google search, found CPF and... it all went downhill from there... ;)

I bough one of those cheap, generic, "6 LED lights," and was impressed with its brightness compared to my mini-mag. After some searching for LED flashlights, I came across the Surefire site and then finally this site after searching for reviews. After some reading I went to a local gun shop and picked up a 6P LED and was blown away, as it put my generic 6 LED light to shame. Now I just bought an O-Light M20 Premium and already know this won't be my last purchase... doh!

Years ago I bought some new bulbs for my Maglite and couldn't get them to work - still can't for some reason?

I then read about LEDs having 10,000+ hour lifespans and figured I would not have to buy lamps again.

I bought a Inova X1 some years back and recently deceided I needed an upgrade and I found CPF constantly comming up in searches and sites.

Since I registered I've bought 5 lights and have plans for more. :sssh: :shakehead :help: :broke:

These lights are useful shiney metal things that are just cool tech. :duh2:

I think I always loved flashlights as a kid. My mom would never let me stay up late and I always wanted to stay up late reading so I would use flashlights but she would always confiscate them. What really started my addiction and brought me here though was getting a run of the mill fauxton keychain led and loving it so much I wanted a really good one. That brought me to the arc's which I thought were too expensive(hah the prices I pay for lights now!), which then led me to the Fenix E0, what I consider my first really nice light.

Just like LED_thrift, I always used to look at Doug's site at Flashlightreviews.com and followed up from the link. Scary and reassuring to find this place. At last there are people like me!!
:grouphug:

A colleague led me to the site after a conversation about high-end flashlights...the rest as they say is history..along with my credit card!

Less than a year ago I had purchased a Leatherman Monarch 500 from Costco & was impressed by the light output in comparison to my stock 3d mag. I wanted to purchase one more LED flashlight & found this site while looking for reviews. Now I have over 20 lights made by Surefire, Fenix, Inova, Olight, ZebraLight, & others, not to mention all the drop-ins, rechargeable batteries, chargers, & testers. All my purchase decisions were based on reviews made by CPF members but I still don't know if I should thank you or blame you:wave::scowl: . I wasn't even interested in flashlights a year ago but now I can't get enough.

I bought a Dorcy 3xAAA light for my dad for X-mas and the clerk at Sears did a double-take at the price that came up on the register. It was a whopping $40, I told her it would be well worth it (which I had no idea if it was or not at the time), and I went home to check if I paid too much... If only I had known...

I did a google search and found this place once I got home. Now I can't stop myself and really need to stop/slow down buying lights, especially with the economy like it is. But, on the other hand, I keep hearing people need to keep spending to stimulate the economy, so I am happy I am doing my part to fix the problem! :twothumbs

I've also had that flashlight obsession (started as a kid with a AAA penlight/whistle combo). I've owned several Mag instrument products and recently discovered Cree emitters (and all the nice cheap Chinese goodies at Deal Extreme). Well I was researching the output of my EDC (Romisen RC-N3) and when I typed in Candlepower of flashlights, I landed here. Imagine my surprise when I realized that I did not have a sickness- Nope I only own a dozen or so cheap lights- nothing over $20 (until my Peak Pacific shows up in the mail that is) so I'm not sick. Nope I'm perfectly healthy- no obsession here. OK maybe a little enamoured with flashlights-- but I can stop at anytime--really I can! lovecpf

Someone at work had a streamlight penlight, I said wow thats bright(15lumens?) I started looking online for something led since they were so bright, lol. I ended up buying a fenix lod-se first then a p3d-q5. Been spending money ever since.

Trying to find a bright reliable flashlight for work after having to deal with AA Mag-Lites failing constantly.
