We're having a mild nor-easter, and the power just went out for 30 minutes.:twothumbs

Fortunately, I have lights.

My office is nearly pitch black when this happens. The LED indicators on my cable modem, and the power saver LEDs on the monitor are the only light sources.

I tested a few dozen nearby lights during this darkened half-hour, and the most useful were:

The Aeon pinned to my bibs.
The red-low Ra twisty on my desk.
A 3-speed RV7 mule on my desk.
A Dorcy 4D lantern with a nice LED upgrade on my desk.
A FlyLight plugged into a USB port on my monitor.

Just for giggles, I fired up my 633 for a minute, and as expected, it put an instant end to the darkness.lovecpf

I'm thinking your 633 can get your whole county out of the dark... Maybe a "cloud bounce" instead of a ceiling bounce??? :sssh:

I got a call from my wife a couple of hours ago telling me the power was out. She could hear sirens, so someone probably had an intimate encounter with a light pole.

Anyway, the first thing I thought to myself was "why do these power failures always happen during the day? Grrrr" :D

I did that last November while driving the 18-wheeler!

The 911 call went something like,"Hello, I'm in Waco, at the intersection of (whatever it was), and I've just hit a power pole AND THERE'S FIRE ALL AROUND ME!!!"

Dispatcher: "Where did you say you are?"

Me:"At the intersection of..."

Dispatcher:"Oh, you're in Waco, hold on while I forward your call to them."

Hmph. I TOLD them I was in Waco to begin with!

It was a good 45 seconds before the first cop arrived and a good 45 minutes before I could get out of the truck.

Power failure? Oh YEAH, I caused a BIG one in Waco! :D

Power went out at work the other day...of course I was the only one with light..."Why do you carry a light during the day...snicker" "This is why, beeotch"...30 seconds after the lights went out, I busted out my 6Z w/ M60F and lit the whole room up...and 30 seconds later, some-one from a different part of the building comes into our office "Hey, lemme ge one of your lights"...so I lend him my E2L to "sell him" on it...I'm beginning to hate power outages...get a friggin' light you people!!! But those 5 seconds he was in the room, I knew exactly what he wanted before he even asked...ahh, the glory of being a "Flashaholic"...LOL!

Am still waiting for my first one after like 3-4 months of being a flashaholic... Darn, power failures in Malaysia is pretty rare...darn...:nana:

Osram 64633 lamp running at a regulated 16.5V in a 3" FM head. 7,000 lumens of incan loveliness!

Sounds like AlanB adjusted your regulated drive just in time!Mine won't arrive until next week. :mecry:

If I'm in the middle of a blackout I hope I have my '633 handy-at least for the first 60-90 seconds!!!(too hot to hold after that)-then my trusty P3D is all I need.
