What\'s a good 3AA/4AA flashlight to mod to LED?

I was just wondering if anybody had ideas for a cheap 3AA/4AA host for conversion to LED. Cheap is the operative word here, I don't want to pay any more than the Energizer doublebarrel light. If I was paying that much it'd be cheaper to simply buy a commercially manufactured light.

I had my heart set on the Energizer light, except for one thing: it's AAA. And AAAs are not exactly known for their stellar performance. I'm shooting for Lux3 700mA performance in a handheld formfactor and the Mag+TWOL is a little on the big side (though I'm very happy with its performance all round).

The reason why I want to use AAs is that I want to go for 2-3 hours of runtime on a Lux3 at 700mA, and the small AAAs don't do the job well.

FYI-The Eveready DoubleBarrel AA flashlights are still available at Savon/Osco Drugs (in the U.S. -at least). Haven't seen any of the smaller AAA ones for sale here in a while.

Just spotted a coupla three of the AA model the other day @ Savon going for around $12.99 each.

brinkman makes a 3aa light with a lock out clickie tailcap. Mrbulk used to modify them, and call them LGI. Go to his website or do a search. I'd say that'd be pretty good DD a luxIII J or K vF bin. You could use the stock reflector or a IMS 17mm or even a fraen LP...
