Topic. I've seen a couple of beamshots and it's hard to tell. Flashlightsreview states the throw to be about 3000lux and overall output 8800, since the throw isn't insane (well it's good, but not super good) does that mean this is a very floody light? My main need is to light up an area well up to 50 yards ahead of me. Will this beam suit me?

And please dont recommend me other lights, this one fills all of my other criterias, I look up another option if need arises. :)

To me the beam is in the middle ground of having spill with a hot spot that throws well but not super. It does not throw as well as my Streamlight PP 4AA Lux, but puts out more overall light. It would work for your main need "light up an area well" in front of you. 50 yards would be the outside limit, in my opinion, of the area it lights up "well", but this is all subjective. Of all the lights I have, this is the one I would choose to put a lot of light on an area. I've been using NiMH AAs.

The L2D is a compromise between 'throw' and 'flood'. I've taken it out to the woods on a few occasions now and I'd agree it has a range of around 50 yards or so... maybe a little more but not much. This is on turbo. However you probably get more coverage out to 50 yards than you would with a pure throw flashlight.

Yep, those are good descriptions of the beam, which is exactly why I find myself turning to this light more and more. A nice compromise between throw and flood, with a beam that lights up an area evenly in front of you, but with enough of a hot spot for that extra little reach when you need it.

50 yards...... hmmmmm ........ that's pushing it. 25-30 yards..... yes, this will do that nicely. You can easily see objects 50 yards away, but I wouldn't say the entire 50 yard area is lit up well.

Thanks for all the answeres all of you. This looks to be the flood light I was looking for. 50 yard is the absolute longest distance I was considering to use it for, so if it's not so bright at 50 yards, no big deal. Can't wait until I get one! :)

I can honestly tell you that I have both L1D with Li-Ion and a P1D-CE, neither of them are useful beyond 20-30yards, and my D-mini does the job more than 10 times better :)

Can you tell me at what distance from a wall it must be to produces a 2 foot hot spot? For comparison purposes my LxD's cover that same area from less than half the distance of tightly focused MagLED
