What\'s the story with Oxy-Alkaline AAs?

I picked these up at my local Eckerd's store today, they were in the closeout section. I had never even heard of Oxy-Alkaline batteries before. They are 1.7V like Lithium AAs.

Has anyone had any experience with these? Apparently they are supposed to be optimized for high drain devices. Is there something to this or is it just marketing hype? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/help.gif

Peter, bought a couple of packs myself last week at Eckerd's. Do a search in here, there are a couple of threads about them. They are higher voltage than normal AAs.

Peter,

Are you sure they are 1.7v. The packaging clearly says 1.5 v.

Billson, even normal alky, which are rated at 1.5V, have 1.55~1.6V to begin with, out of the package. They quickly go down in voltage when you put load on them.

Billson, I measured mine, they're a little over 1.7 .

Thanks for the info and links guys. They had a bunch of these on clearance, I think I'll pick up a couple more packs.
