What\'s Your Favorite Single 5MM LED Light?

...and, why? I'm not talking "the best", because 95% of the answers would undoubtedly be "ArcAAA", and I have no arguements what-so-ever with that! I'm talking "favorite"...The best light isn't always the favorite.

Mine is a Brinkmann Legend 1AAA light modded with the guts of a Dorcy 1AAA LED light. I think the Arc AAA is the best, but with it's tail switch, the modded Brinkmann has the temporary switch which is a feature that I've always wished my ArcAAA had. I work the midnight shift at a state prison, and the Brinkmann is PERFECT for looking in cells for counts without having to leave the light on the whole time. It's every bit as bright as my Arc or Ultra-G, and the tail switch makes it that much handier to use. My Arc is ALWAYS on my keychain, but the Brinkmann sees MUCH more use. It's my hands-down favorite single 5MM LED light. What's yours?

has clip that actually works opposed to the Arc clip, is dimmer than the Arc (suits my needs better), uses lithiums, is smaller than the Arc in diameter and MUCH better looking AND cheaper.

My wife likes the Photon II. Simple, small, robust, PHD (press here dummy) design. She leaves the cell changing to me (which admittedly has not been required for a long time since she doesn't use it much). So nothing difficult for her.

I prefer the Arc AAA or my modded UKE-2AAA. Arc-AAA for use with pants/slacks. UKE-2AAA with SatCure circuit for jeans, beach, fishing. They are light enough, small enough and take AAA which can be easily changed out. Big advantage since I use them alot and swap out the alkalines for a refresh charge almost every other day.

Why put up with just one 5MM LED? Get a tail switch, 3 5MM LEDs and 1AA with the Dorcy light. Cheap batteries, nice flood, inexpensive, rugged.

In his article How I got started in LED flashlights Peter Gransee of Arc says: "But the ideal form factor would be a single AA battery with 3 LED’s. The housing would be metal, waterproof and have a twist top." The Dorcy is close, since it's not completely waterproof, but in your application, that's not relevant.

My favorite is the CMG Infinity Ultra. Always on my belt loop ready for use when needed.

I would like to have an led light that does not exist. I nice little single 123 running off of 1 nicely ranked 5mm led. I got lots of half drained cells and this would be nice for when really bright is not needed. Who needs a dimmer swithch. Just grab a dimmer light.

The ARC AAA is my favorite, but some in my family prefer the Photon II. The ratio is about 2 to 1 in favor of the Photon II. I give them what ever they want, so price is not an issue with them.

I'm preaching to the chorus here, but without a doubt, the Arc-AAA. The Arc-AAA-LE (now PE) and the CPF editions output a nice, white light (and especially my 2003 CPF Arc) with none of those evil little blue things in its beam. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The Dorcy 1-AAA 1-LED light isn't too bad, but the tailcap has a wobbly feeling to it that I don't particularly care for. I do like the idea of a tailcap switch though, so I use the Dorcy probably more than I should. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif

Hmm, ArcAAA first, second would be the Nuwai AL-08W, which was the first LED light I owned, and still has a permenent place on my keychain...and still gets used pretty much everyday.

Hmmm.... I have 6 ArcAAA and 4 Ultra. I end up giving away all ArcAAAs and keep all Ultra. I guess it's personal preference.

Ive never seen the ultra arcaaa but at my work I use a streamlight stylus because it fits right into a 3/8 hole for fishing wire,

Photon III for me, with the Arc AAA coming in a very close second.
