i started using 2100mah AA bats in my little portable radio. i use it daily anywhere from 1-3 hrs, and sometimes at high volume.

had the bats in there for about a month...just started noticing what i think is a mild decrease in volume.
put some fresh rechargeables in, and checked the old ones:
they all read between 1.28-1.29v. i think they still had some juice.

i know it is more of a comment than question...but, WOW!
i used to go through 4 alkies every 2 months or so--i have a box full of used up bats that my opalecs/etc can use.

now i get nearly free power...and reduce waste.

if anyone out there doesnt have a rechargeable system, and has any need, i highly recommend trying one--you wont be disappointed. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/buttrock.gif

now i have to have one of the EV nuts build me a rechargeable electric vehicle! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I apologize for insulting you if you already know this, but you cannot just put a meter to a battery to tell its state. All batteries will have a "surface charge" which is nearly the cell's full voltage. To tell the true state of a battery, you have to put it under a load to remove the surface charge.

yes, like load testing a car bat.

was just curious about the voltage left in the used bats.

no insult at all--i prefer to keep my mouth shut and absorb info from anywhere possible!

thanks,
Bob
