In particular I like the Sanyo's but am not totally brand loyal. I used to buy them at Botach for 20/$20 plus about $7 shipping but I see they no longer seem to accept paypal.

lighthound and fenix-store both stock energizer CR123's (lighthound stocks several brands actually).

Both are paypal friendly.

How are the Streamlight CR123s (carried at Lighthound)? Didn't realize Streamlight made them. Are they just rebranded cells from another manufacturer?

Presumably they're rebranded, but they've tested well. I'm used to yellow ones but I see the ones displayed at lighthound are silver, so maybe they're different.

Batteryjunction.com has the Tenergy CR123A cells for $1.00. I don't know if they accept PayPal. You could send a private message to MattK.

I was talking to the Streamlight rep at the Shot Show and he was telling me that there is a big price war going on right now with name brand CR123 batteries. According to him, the current price from Streamlight (for their brand) to dealers is around $1.10 to $1.20, and the other brands are trying to undercut them on price. Good news for flashaholics.

I usually get the 20 for $20 name brands from Botac.com also. They take all credit cards, I don't think they ever took Paypal but I might be wrong on that.

BatteryJunction.com accepts PayPal and we have 4-6 brands of cells available at any given time.

The Streamlight batteries are made by Panasonics USA - same people who make Surefire cells and many others.

Matt,

Which would be the safest to buy for a flashlight application. I don't want to have an explosion in my house to save 50 cents.

Thanks,
Gary

Gary,

I think it would be difficult to impossible to say what is safest as no statistics exist but I can tell you that the Sanyo Japan cells we sell are the #1 choice in the professional/industrial market. We've never had any reported 'explosions' with our Tenergy cells *knocks wood* as Newbie has shown it's unlikely with any brand but can also happen with any brand if the circumstances are just right.

If you want to wait about 5-7 days we'll have the Pansonics (USA)available on the website; there's a reason SF/SL and others have chosen them as their OEM mfr - they also make a great cell.

If you're willing to pay a little more for the 'best,' buy the Sanyo's.

Matt,

Thank you. I just placed an order for twenty (20) of the Sanyo's. Thank you again for all your assistance with my selection.

Regards,
Gary
