I purchased a T5 from Amilite on March 21st, got my letter of confirmation from Paypal, and I havent heard a thing from Amilite.
No acknowledgement of my order. No light.

So five days ago I emailed Keven at Amilite inquiring about my order and I havent heard a thing......
Is anybody having the same problem with Amilite ????

They are located in Korea.
I realize that - but wouldnt you think I'd have heard something by now ??? or that they would have answered my email ???
I have emailed Kevin before and I dont recall them taking that long to reply........

Not quite sure about your issue, but I do know that their site was misleading to me. I didn't even see where you had to add shipping to your cart as well at the bottom of the page. So, I ended up paying for a light and waiting a week before re-reading over and realizing they were just gonna sit there with my 80 bucks...not happy so far.

My "issue" is just that they have my $85 bucks and I havent heard from them and they are not responding. I bought a T3 from them, no problems.....

Maybe they are too busy making back-ordered T5's.....

$85? Did you add the "Shipping Surcharge" to your cart as well when you bought the light? That was my mistake.

In blue, it reads "(Outside Korea) International shipping surcharge. "...so I'm still confuzzled...anyway, I paid the $12 shipping, thinking that's what was necessary to get the dang light to my house here in TX.

You should have gone for the $12 shipping option. They send you a tracking number when it ships and takes half the time. If you ordered yours on the 21st and it went out 2 or 3 days later, you should see it in the next few days to a week.

It would have been nice if they sent me a shipping (or order confirmation) notice, but I will settle for the light......

I ordered mine about one week ago. I have got it today. There was no shipping notice but I did received the order confirmation.

LA OZ, did you use regular mail or global express (the $12 option)?

Ordered the light, payed 85.- USD and didn`t here anything from them !
No order or tracking confirmation!

Just received the light ~ 3 weeks later!

Don`t worry it`ll arrive within the next days! (Hopefully!)

BTW the light is darn bright! But unfortunately gets REALLY hot on r123`s.

Well, "the world works in strange ways".........

So, I havent heard from Amilite for 14 days after ordering my light, I start this thread last night, and the first thing that pops up on my computer this morning is a nice email from Kevin at Amilite, apoligizing for not getting back to me earlier and letting me know when the light is going to ship......

Naw, there couldnt be a coincidence..................
I still feel very comfortable with Amilite and am looking forward to my new T5 more than ever

You are going to love that T5!! Are you planning on running it with primarys or R123As?

At this point, primaries.... I am led to believe the light is brighter (but more expensive to use) on primaries....
I am looking forward to the T5 as my T3 has always been one of my favorite lights.

Be careful. There was another recent threat about the T5 LED turning brown and dim, basically being burned out. I didn't get a definite answer, but I think it was from using R123s. Your observation that the light gets really hot with them is to me a warning not to use them on this light.

To my eyes, the T5 appears to be brighter with 3.7v cells than with primaries. I do not have any way to test it myself, but CPF member whc's homemade Lux Meter readings also seem to support this conclusion:

"Amilite T5:
1xRCR123A 3.0v on high: 8340 Lux
1xRCR123A 3.7v on high: 10910 Lux"

In this particular case, that is a 31% difference!

A big difference indeed, but one that might be seriously overdriving the LED. If you look at whc's list, the other lights that approach the T5's output do so with two cells, meaning with twice the voltage, and hence half the current. Since power loss to heat scales with resistance times the square of current, it means the LED in the T5 is already being cooked hard. If you force even just 25% more current through it, you are already producing about 56% more heat! This also agrees with SEMIJims's comments. I am more and more convinced this is why some people with RCR123s have already damaged their T5 LEDs.
