I have a PDA that the connector went bad, (it used that wide flat connector (that breaks easily)
AND
i want to put a standard small USB connector on some lights for charging .
i need the STANDARD mini usb Socket thing that is used on lots of "smart Phones" chargers and such. the Razer V3 for example uses that connection

I now have 50 of them stupid little ones, that arent standard for anything, due to not knowing how to identify the part. and i cant find them , or really know what to call them.

i know what its NOT :)
its not the big huge flat 6pin thing on the back of your computer
its not the square thing that is on lots of printers
it is "mini" meaning small, but its not that teeny plastic thing they put only in very tiny products.
it usually has a nice metal hood around it

its the SOCKET or "female" of the right one in this pic http://images.auctionworks.com/hi/61/61482/PCABUSBX0007_2.jpg

anbody know where i can get about 10 of em, for less than $15 shipped?

"mini USB" is the technical name. However, you may want to know that the new standard is movings towards "micro USB" for modern smartphones and small personal electronics.

You need the female connector (aka socket) for your chosen style.

The connecter you are reffering to is called a USB Mini B connector. Common on a lot of electronic devices for data transfer and charging.

Digi-Key sells several variations, if you search usb mini b you can narrow down using their nice parametric search. However they have a $5 handling fee for an order less than $25

So I took a part number from digi-key and searched Mouser Electronics and came up with this for you http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?qs=Lu3apKW7jUhaCoyjqYNFIA%3d%3d

It's a surface mount connector, I believe if you search around mouser or digikey you can find through hole connectors, or even possibly cable mount.

Last I knew Mouser didn't have a minimum order fee, so you may be able to meet your $15 dollar goal.
