where to get a DB sammich?

i can't locate on wayne's site the information i need. can he make his BK sandwiches in a Downboy configuration?

i was under the impression that he only BK'ed Badboys and Madmaxs because those two designs use the easier-to-build pins (vs wires) in their construction.

i'd like to purchase a ready-made DB917 sandwich because i don't have the skills necessary to build one myself.

if wayne doesn't custom make them for re-sale, who else does?

any help is greatly appreicated,

Hey Coyote,

There are a couple of issues with building a DB sandwich.

1) DB does not have a common ground. Very different from the BB and MM convertors that share the -ve with the emitter. The edge of the convertor must be sealed with epoxy so that it will not short out on the inner wall of the light. The trick is to get as thick a layer of epoxy without making the convertor too big for the light.

2) Alignment of holes for the emitter do not match up with a standard emitter board. A different mounting scheme is required.

Those were the lessons learned from the DB Pill that you had evaluated last year. Isssue (1) eventually killed the convertor when it shorted against the wall of the CNC-123.

i still feel guilty for having that DB die while in my hands (and i feel even worse for you getting nailed by Canadan Customs for those re-entry fees, which i'm still more than happy to cover, just say so).

as you can tell, i never was able to locate a DB for that "Dan-Can" 3x123 CNC-123 and i'm once more looking to buy one.

is there any chance that in you saying: "...I can provide some details for the build if you're interested..." that you'd be willing to take on that project?

or if not, who'd you think would?

BTW - there is nothing to feel guilty about, it was an oversight on my part that ultimately caused the convertor to fail. It was definitely worth the effort.
