I just finished reading the XL100 review thread.... the 3AAA carrier is a shame, but the UI seems pretty slick.
I think the 3AAA carrier is a logical decision for a company that markets their products to the general public. I think an option to use 18650's would have been nice but I don't mind the 3AAA carrier as the batteries are cheap, last pretty long and are available everywhere.
Maybe I need to buy one for myself so I can see which friends & family think it's cool??

It certainly think it is a cool flashlight as so does everyone I show it to. And for the price, I think they found a beautiful balance in size, output, beam pattern (flood as well as decent throw) and general usability. It has become one of my favorite flashlights.
