Randal,
I am sorry, but I am not allowed to do that. It is against our policy to choose one over the other. I am allowed to tell you that we sell an equal amount of both. If you want the more technical of the two (more options), then you should choose the C9000. If you want to still be able to set your own rates, but the least technical of the two, then you should choose the BC900.
From an online retailer I asked which one THEY would choose. Can someone with familiarity of these chime in, please. LA CROSSE BC-900 or MAHA MH-C9000?

It depends. They have some features in common and some differences. What particular features matter most to you? What is your wish list for a charger? How much are you concerned about price?

Neither charger is 'best', so nobody can make the choice for you.

If you are just trying to buy a 'good' charger, but you are not too familiar with the kind of features those chargers have, maybe even a third choice of charger would be a better option?

First and foremost it must be built to last. Adjustable levels to slow charge to extend life of cells is a +. I'm fine with techy features and am most concerned with having to upgrade within a short period of time, "buy cheap=buy twice". It appears the BC-900 is the less costly of the two. In my eyes the best value would come down to the greatest overall performance between the two. If at all that can be measured.

Hello Randy,

The Break-In function on the C9000 is very valuable for breaking in new cells, maintaining used cells, and trying to revive cells that have not been properly stored.

It also has a trickle charge rate that is better for Eneloop and other low self discharge rate cells.

I think this gives the advantage to the C9000.

There is a detailed comparison of both of these chargers in this thread that may be helpful.

Chargers

I need some help picking out a new charging system (AA/AAA). I've narrowed it down to two choices. The Lacrosse BC-700 and the MAHA MH-C9000. Which one would you choose? Any advice would be much appreciated.

According to this link the only difference between the BC700 and the BC900 is the charging current. Since there are already threads on that charger we'll merge yours with this one. ;)

Here is a useful charger comparison link.

I have a C9000 and it has been good to all the cells I have run through it. Judging by the information and comments I have read, I feel it is the best one available for the price.

FWIW
Refresh mode on the LaCrosse, excercises the battery by discharging, charging, and discharging until there is no improvement in the discharge time/current. You can download the BC900 manual from the LaCrosse Technologies web site.
