Just got my Romisen RL-B7 .

Im looking at swapping in a Cree LED on a 20mm board .
Which would be the best unit to swap in ? , say from DX [ Free Shipping is a must ]

R2 if you like cool white light, Q3 if you like warm white light.

Those are just flux bins. Tint bins are a separate ranking. For example, you can get both Q3-WC and Q3-5A (among MANY other tints also)

Same or slightly more Lumens + longer run time .

Or Mucho more Lumens and similar run time .

I like the RL-B7 but cant help but feel a Cree would be better than a Luxeon .

I also have a MXDL with a older LED [ Luxeon ? ] , + I have Cree LED on order , CREE P4 LED Emitter (WD) .

Im thinking some swapping may be in order , the P4 into the Romisen , the one in the Romisen into the MXDL ??? , and the one in the MXDL ill use to mod my Double barrel energizer ! , but im not so sure that the LED's in the Romisen and MXDL are not close to being equal .

Define "best".

Which is another way of saying:

If you want the "best" color rendition, you cannot have the best (highest brightness).

If you want a warm color tint, you cannot have high brightness.

If you want the brightest LED, you cannot have high color rendition, and you'll be looking at cooler color temperatures.

I say grab an X-RE R2 bin. If its from DX, its probably going to be a WC tint (cool white). It'll lean towards blue. For most of us, its pretty white, and R2 is the highest flux bin available.

DX has an R2 WG. I've bought some and I'm happy with them. If you're in the U.S. ETG has Q5 WG Cree's.
