I am looking at getting this light at DX: sku 4314

and was looking at these two drop ins:

sku 11836

and

sku 32954

Which one will work best? brightest? will there be a difference in throw/flood?

I am a newbie to this so I figured I would ask for educated opinion :)

Thanks!

You can get SKU 24201 with an R2 in it already. Just buy the extension and solarforce R5 dropin off ebay if you like. It is a Solarforce L2 copy and has matching threads.

ebay item: 180515144231 has the R5 already.

270629619684 extension

Just make sure the drop in can handle the voltage.

If planning to get 11836, please be adviced of this:

I was also about to order but luckily noticed kramers post down there!

As for 32954, you can get Solarforce drop-ins for quite the same price from eBay.
Difference is they have smooth reflector, dx has orange peeled.
May be bad luck but I got a Solarforce drop-in with badly centered LED
Paid more, got less. Next time I might as well try luck with dx

:welcome:
There was a recent thread about XPG R5 modules which seems to have disappeared.
There were early problems with the driver which was fixed.
The problem with the LED separating from the pill/heatsink seem to be still there.

After your bad experience with your Trustfire 1200 you still buying from the same unreliable source?

Try shiningbeam

MG-P rocket XPG R5 available soon.~$42. By the time you buy all the bits in your original post you are not that much cheaper and the bits may not work together well especially in regard to heatsinking.

Thanks for all of the help and suggestions everyone!

as for the tr-1200, that was the only disappointing experience so far. i have purchased about 5 flashlights so far and have been satisfied everytime. I am not too worried, but I am liking the shining beam suggestion. I shall wait and see when they release it!
