Evening all,
Looking to sort myself out with some cheap bike lights.
Went out for my first proper (mtb) night ride the other night and LOVED it.
Was using an Ultrafire Wf601a as a helmet torch and a pair of Ultrafire C2 lights mounted on the bars running off a 7.2v RC car battery.
Firstly the helmet torch was completely underpowered by the bar mounted lights. Didn't really have enough throw.
Being the kind of person that I am, I need to go brighter!
So, can anyone make a recommendation for a couple of lights from DX to mod to run on my bike.
I'll either unscrew (if possible) or cut off the head of whatever light I get, solder on wires and connectors, and run them off external battery packs.
Was thinking a SSC P7 mounted on the bars for flood (SKU 12623) and something like SKU 8686 which is a Q5 long throw on the helmet for looking futher down the trail.
I'd run the P7 off of a 3.6v Nimh battery pack, and the Q5 off of a 7.2v RC pack.
Does any of this seem sensible? Is it going to be brighter than my current set up? Does anyone have any better suggestions for donor lights?
Thanks in advance!
