Is there a difference between synthetic sapphire crystal and a pure sapphire crystal? Wondering which is more scratch resistant.

Anyone have any ideas?

The synthetic is supposed to have the same properties as natural so there should be no obvious difference. With natural stones there may be fractures/stresses inherent and so if it encounters an impact, this will likely be the spot where it would shear/break away.

Is this a watch crystal? Eventually you may encounter something to scratch it but that isn't very common. Wife has sapphire crystals on her watches and they are in remarkable shape...I don't see anything bare eye, perhaps under a scope or loupe there may be some. Just stay away form sand, diamonds and other stones of a MOH's hardness higher than sapphire. ;)
