Hey guys was researching this, but all the threads that came up were pretty old and I figure there might be better batteries out there.

Any good protected batteries I can buy for this and charger?

Also can I run rechargeables with the P60 lamp? Or is it time to upgrade to a LED :twothumbs

Thanks!

Wondering if the AW RCR123s will fit? Or any other ones?

Also not sure on stock P60, but appears the LED dropins should be able to handle the RCR123s. The dropins look to use 3 to 9 volts it seems.

Re: Rechargeables for Z2

Ok so have been doing more research and it appears I can use a single 17670 in the Z2.

I see the bulb needs to accept 3.7v in order to use 17670. Can I use it with something like this?

Can 17670 be used with the stock bulb?

I was thinking of keeping some primaries on me and perhaps buy some protected 17670 from AW and a few RCR123A.

Re: Rechargeables for Z2

That LED module on ebay is *probably* a buck-regulated module, so it will drop out of regulation on a single 17670 after a little while. So the full run won't be operating at 100% output....

If you DO want to get an LED module for it (great choice BTW, as in this form factor, LEDs are really great performers) you might want to look for one specifically designed for use on a single li-ion cell to stay in regulation... However, if you need more flexibility on voltage input (like the ability to use CR123s as an alternative) then the choices may be fewer..

check out this thread for information on P60 sized LED modules:

If you want to stick with incandescent, you will probably want to use a 17670 and something like a LumensFactory HO-4. A pair of AWs RCR123s and a LF SR-9 is a nice combo as well (also SFs P90, Wolf-Eyes 9V D26, etc etc, as long as it's a lower current 9V lamp). The 9V combos don't have as much runtime but are a bit brighter.

also click the link in my signature to read more about li-ion configuration compatibility.

I might consider an LED a downgrade, but never an "upgrade"

A good combo for the Z2 is two of AW's protected RCR123A batteries and a Sure-Fire P90 lamp assembly.
