Who has broken a light before? (led)

And no, I don't mean those $2 cheapo. I mean the popular name brands that are favored on CPF.

I haven't broken any yet, but I'm not that hard on my stuff.

I haven't broken any of mine, either. I also take due care of my lights. I haven't had an LED light cease to work, due to a part malfunction, like a switch (yet).

I differentiate the two: malfunction vs broken

on the other hand, I have had my share of incans malfunction.

I've broken a Starlite 128, a Pilot-3, and a Ledcorp lantern just with common flashlight "accidents" (like falling from a few feet up and smashing into the floor), but I haven't had any malfunctions of LED flashlights that just happened "out of the blue".

Oh wait... I did get a Digitronics Starlight that never worked, straight out of the mailing. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I broke a LEDtronics FlashLED - dropped it from the upper floor at work which is basically the space on the roof of the office in our factory unit, which has a raw, solid concrete floor. It fell what must have been 15 feet and busted the switch. The LEDs were all knocked askew but it did still work - infact I couldn`t turn it off after that so had to ditch the batteries to shut it off.

I`ve also broken a Starlite 128 (they just love breaking do those things!) and had the LED module in my original Teknolite burn out because the manufacturers forgot to design in any resistors /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ohgeez.gif They did ship out replacement LED modules to every Teknolite customer that this time did have resistors so all was well there. I can`t really say I broke that one though.

What else.....oh - I did bust an old Maglite 4D once. Dropped it denting the battery tube and wedging in three of the four cells. Pretty much trashed it trying to get them out..... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif
