I am looking for some BB-2590 Lithium Ion rechargeable batteries. They are mainly used by the military and tend to be costly from "ordinary" sources.
Does anyone have any ideas where to buy some for a "good" price?
Thanks guys!

Thanks DocD,
Will contact them tomorrow. Have you dealt with them before? How is there pricing compared to other suppliers?
Also Bren-Tronics seems to be a major player.
Expensive stuff!

they have a place in the UK, some guys get bits from them may try a army whole sale in the us, i think the bb390 is the same but weighs more i might be wrong in saying that? you should be pay about $300 or upto $350
or movie prop supply these guys some are in the know for mil spec stuff good luck DocD

just on the curious side, why would you need military grade batteries?
to run your surefire hellfire?

I don't...just a curiosity factor for the most part. Ever since I started reading about them I though it would be interesting to take a closer look.
Price from Bren Tronics $350 ... not cheap.
Yes to run the hellfire...going with an A123 pack first. Hellfire, now how did you know that?
Cheers.

:eek:oo:well, surefire literature on the Hellfighter [formally hellfire] spoke of powering the light using 2 5590 batteries OR through a cig lighter socket...and 2590 just stroked the moldering fire in me way from back in the days where I had an interest in military batteries...

surefire said:
Its rugged high intensity discharge lamp (HID lamps have no filament to break or burn out) is powered by one or two military 5590 batteries or from a 12-volt auto battery. The HellFighter quickly connects to either with a 10-foot cable (not included) that features both military 5590 connectors and an auto accessory (cigarette lighter) plug.

the thing is though, 5590s are lithium primaries :ohgeez:

3. A new rechargeable battery has also been developed for use in the Thermal Weapon Sight. Instead of using the BA-5847/U non-rechargeable battery, the user now has the option of using the new BB-2847/U Lithium Ion rechargeable battery. This battery can be recharged 1000 times, and will result in substantial savings.

Based on cost alone, one BB-390A/U battery kit is equivalent to the cost of 22 BA-5590 batteries. However, you can use one BB-390A/U battery at least 225 cycles versus the BA-5590 one-time use.

I haven't been able to find results for 2590 batteries in my search query...but then again my sources haven't been updated for awhile:ohgeez:

the earliest "military battery" I've looked up is the BA-5372/U

Someone used it in their G2 and supposedly destroyed a P60...its a CR123A shaped cell thats 6V [4-6.6V by datasheet with a max discharge of 160ma, 300ma pulse]

make sure to post pics for us, I'm sure the hellfighter fans would like to know what it is really powered while sitting atop a M134A2 Vulcan in the turret seat :D
