why do my AA NimH seem to drain fast?

I charged 4 of them 1 day ago but they drain fast when I use it in microsoft gaming mouse.

I tried some (Lenmar) that didn't last long in my mouse. Eneloop is doing way way better.
 
the batteries are 5yrs old Ternergy. Should I buy new Enloops ? What brand should I buy ?

You'll be pleased with eneloops. I use them in my computer mouse and they last about a month. Cheaper batteries.... about1--2 weeks. They last longer in lights too.
 
Your cells did not drain fast. It still drained at the rate your gaming mouse consumes it. Your old cells has little capacity left from its original, brand-new state, hence the short run time.
 
Alas...If only somebody could invent a mouse that could get it's power from the computer...perhaps through a wire of some sort...

I wonder if you could modify a mouse to use one of those charging mats that they have for cell phones & tablets. Use the mat as a mouse pad & it can get it's power while you're using it. You could even have the mat draw power from the computer, and save yourself an outlet...

That sounds rather poor performance. I have the wireless microsoft 2000 mouse with 2 camelion AA 800mAh used extensively more than 12 hours daily (job machine + fun time) and still I have power after 1 full month where I charge the batteries just in case; they have achieved up to 1.5 month with such use when the mouse's low power light blinks.

Mine must be gobbling up my batteries.
 
microsoft gaming mouse must be sucking mega joules from batteries. They don't last more than a day.
