Forgive me if this has been covered. I searched and could not find any direct examples.

Anyway, I wanted to ask if there are any white wide angle LED's for the Photon II that can be bought at an electronics store like Radio Shack or something. It seems the Photon would be the easiest to replace the LED. I mostly use my Photon to see things 10-30 inches in front of my face in the dark, and would like a wider beam.

I have a turquoise Photon II and the beam is barely wide enough, but a white one with a wider beam than the turquoise would be more usefull to me.

If anyone knows of a previous post on this subject just point me there.

Thanks

I guess I have to lurk around your site some more. It did not even occur to me to look there. I have seen the "punishment zone" page, but I'm checking the rest out now. Lots of info, awesome.

Thanks again.

Easy to install and it works great!! Looks just like your pics.

Comparing it to a regular white Arc AAA it looks a little more violet/blue, but I can still distinguish the colors of what it is illuminating which is the important part for me.

The bluish ring is accentuated on a white wall, but shining it in a bird’s nest of cables it looks pretty even and it does not turn all the colors the same like the turquoise did.

Oh, and to add to my own post. Evidently saltwater from the Gulf of Mexico will corrode the batteries in a Photon II.

I went parasailing in August on vacation and had the Photon on my key ring in my pocket. To get on the boat I had to go out in waist deep water and climb on... Well... long story short... the Photon got wet (as well as my alarm remote for my car) and stayed on for a couple of days.

Being on vacation I did not have a little screwdriver to take it apart and dry it out (if I was as equipped as some of you in the "what do you carry on a regular basis" post it would have been no problem)and I forgot all about it until I just changed LED's. Luckily it was not bad and easily cleanable.

I'll file this one under DUH!!!
